The MB Foodie Babe is a friend and show regular on Retro Myrtle Beach Guy and as a part of a new series to help familiarize yourselves with the cast of characters on the program, we are interviewing Ms. Babe today about her love of cuisine, and what her experience in Myrtle Beach has been like!
Retro: What gave you your passion for food?
MB Foodie Babe: I just really love eating and taking pictures of food.
Q: Why Myrtle Beach?
A: Why not? I have tried to move away from this area probably 3 times now and something just keeps calling me back! We moved to Pawleys 14 years ago now and have been in Myrtle Beach for the past 3 years. Being closer to the airport and all the things to do like the Pelicans games. We go to so many games now when we lived in Pawleys it just seemed so far. We also have had season tickets for the Coastal Football games for the past 3 years. We love being so close to all the fun things MB has to offer.
Q; What is your guilty foodie pleasure (McDonald’s, grilled cheese etc. what you like that you are ashamed to admit as a foodie)
A: Velveeta cheese or any nacho cheese sauce. I know it's not healthy but I can't say no to it.
Q: Do you have a current favorite restaurant?
A; Yes, Cafe Old Vienna is one of my top faves because of the quality of the food. The consistency of the staff, the plating, the menu items, etc. I really love the food there.
Retro: Would 16 year old you recognize you today?
A: Not at all... I didn't really get excited about food as a kid. My lunch in High School was a Little Debbie Nutty Buddy wafer bar and a white cap Rutter's iced tea. I didn't eat breakfast either. I had no clue brunch was a thing. My life has really changed a lot. LOL!
Q: Perfect dinner party guest?
A:Someone who can make the entire room laugh!
Q: Favorite cartoon growing up?
A: Garfield
Q; Jeannie or Samantha?
A; Jeannie 100% I loved watching the show as a kid!
Q; What do you wish people knew about Myrtle Beach that you don’t think they’d know?
A; That Horry county in general is huge! There is so much to explore away from the beach.
Q; What are you excited for? Upcoming events? Projects?
A: I am looking forward to launching my clothing line and merch. I am also working on highlighting local restaurants using local shrimp. The subject is big in Charleston right now and we have access to amazing seafood and I want to highlight restaurants using local ingredients.
