Murrells Inlet roared to life as Retro Meet IX took over the legendary Suck Bang Blow during Mustang Week 2025, transforming the biker bar into a neon-lit time warp of burnouts, throwback beats, and vintage Ford muscle. Hosted by Harris Lue and Emily Butler of Lue Creative, the event has grown from a niche Fox-body cruise-in to one of the most anticipated unofficial spectacles of the week.
This year’s lineup was pure retro adrenaline: the BEAST Burnout Contest hosted by Cobra Sam, a costume contest with prizes for best throwback fits, RTR drift demos featuring Vaughn Gittin Jr. and Ben Hobson, and even a surprise proposal mid-drift. Classic car displays ranged from ’79–’04 Mustangs to wild cards like JD Joyride’s Fast & Furious Eclipse and a DeLorean brought in by Ethan Mize.
Retro Myrtle Beach Guy was in full form, capturing the chaos, chrome, and community spirit that defines the Grand Strand’s car culture. You can catch him in action in the video below, where he dives into the heart of the event with his signature nostalgic flair.
Whether you're a Fox-body fanatic or just chasing the scent of burnt rubber and nostalgia, Retro Meet IX proved once again that Myrtle Beach knows how to party like it’s 1989.
