Myrtle Beach locals and visitors alike can rejoice—Burky’s Grill, the iconic 1950s-style diner known for its smash burgers, chili cheese dogs, crinkle-cut fries, and nostalgic charm, is officially reopening on Wednesday, May 1st at 11:00 a.m. The long-awaited return comes after a fire in late January forced the family-run restaurant to temporarily close its doors for repairs and restoration.
Address:
Burky’s Grill
4001 N Kings Hwy, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577
The fire, which occurred in the early morning hours on January 30, 2024, caused significant damage to the interior of the restaurant, requiring extensive smoke and structural cleanup. Thankfully, no injuries were reported, and the community quickly rallied behind the Burky’s team, sending messages of support and sharing decades of fond memories of the beloved burger joint.
Burky’s Grill has been a retro staple on Kings Highway for nearly 30 years, serving up affordable eats in a nostalgic setting complete with Coca-Cola memorabilia, diner stools, and a menu straight out of a simpler time. It’s especially popular with locals, tourists, classic car enthusiasts, and folks just looking for a quick and satisfying bite.
The reopening celebration on May 1st at 11:00 a.m. promises to bring the same old-fashioned hospitality that’s made Burky’s a Myrtle Beach institution. Expect plenty of smiling faces, crispy fries, and the smell of burgers sizzling on the flattop once again.
Whether you’re a longtime fan or a first-timer ready to taste a piece of local history, make your way to Burky’s Grill and be part of the comeback. The spirit of Myrtle Beach is alive and well—and it tastes like a double cheeseburger with a milkshake on the side.
